The NBA was once again the talk of the sports world with a blockbuster trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and Brooklyn’s unprotected 2018 first round pick.
Boston get’s an elite, 25-year old point guard to replace Isaiah Thomas, who was looking for a max contract after this season. They immediately pair him with newest free agent signing Gordon Hayward in attempt to knock Cleveland off of their Eastern Conference throne.
Cleveland on the other hand gets rid of Kyrie who made it clearly publicly that he didn’t want to play with Lebron James anymore. In return they get a player in Isaiah Thomas who was 2nd in the league in scoring last year, and led Boston to the No. 1 seed. They also receive a 2018 unprotected first round pick from Brooklyn, which will likely be top-5 to kick start the rebuilding process in case Lebron James decides to leave…again.
To make things even juicer, these two teams square off on opening night.
Which team won trade? Did the trade shift power to Boston, and what does it mean for Lebron’s remaining time in Cleveland?
